Paragon Now They Wanna Know 12"

I don't know how many MCs there are in Paragon but there's a couple of them and more guests on this debut EP than you can shake a stick out, including Quakes and Ca$hino. One of the MCs - Rapsody (6ft3) used to frequent our battle board back in the days of ukhiphop.com when we had time to concentrate on such things and is the perfect reply to the recent 'Internet MCs' track cos this is no weak MC (whichever one he is). Whilst the rhymes on the main track 'Wanna Know' are excellent I can't get into the beats of either of the versions, something a bit jiggy about them(?). The other side - two very different versions of Free Your Mind is nicer with more solid beats and a wealth of guest MCs, not sure about the chorus on the first one though and our own Celltrait gets a shoutout too.
It's a nicely accomplished debut, lyrics are mostly tight and well constructed (gained from years of keystyling?), clear and well delivered. The beats don't really grab me, or stand out from the crowd, so there's little to make you hurry to put the stylus back to the start of the record, but I'm getting too over-critical in my old age. It's a nice enough release and I look forward to hearing how this crew progress in the future....oh & I got my copy from Selectadisc, so try there first, or email nodough98@hotmail.com
