Most of you will have heard Karl Hinds first offering ‘Don Gramma’ with its wicked B-side, so here’s his follow up, many have backed this man so he’s got a lot to prove. Well ‘The Next’ has rather boring production, just your simple strings and fairly boring beats. But for me Karl Hinds is all about emceeing, and he certainly can do that, vicious lyrics about how he’s going to be ‘The Next’ big thing. OK so we have heard this before, and whether he will be or not I don’t know, but his flow is fucking ridiculous. Like Karl’s first outing, I much prefer the B-side’s ‘Relate To Me’. The production is again not something you’ll find yourself telling your mates about, but at least the beats on this track keep you more interested in the whole package. In fact it sounds very club friendly unlike most UK stuff, so that’s a major bonus point for the man. Yet again though Karl Hinds gives it his all with his lyrics, ‘Relate To Me’ is about how the UK can relate to him. Well I don’t care if you can’t relate cos when this man rhymes its nothing but niceness. I would suggest you track this down, but you may find yourself getting pissed off with the production which he handles himself. Another rather annoying thing, is how all his lyrics start basically in the same way on each track I’ve heard, all this ‘Karl Hinds, Don Gramma, yeah, Ill Flava’, just kind of pisses me off. From what it says on the 12, I guess an album is in the pipeline, which I will check for. But please, let someone else make your beats, because this man with real production would be hard to fault.
