Malarchi ft. Canibus Da Shock 12"

Well well what do we have here? A underground UK emcee working with Canibus, can it be? Well it sounds like Canibus, smells like Canibus… But sadly the track is not as exciting as I’d hoped. If you manage to get a well known US emcee to work with you, you make every effort to make sure that every bit of the track will be killer. Well the beats are just too bland, its well programmed and I’ve not heard that much bass since errrr errrr oh Skitz’s album. But the beat just doesn’t change from its rather droney feel, oh well Malarchi and Canibus can put the track back together right? Well not really, I’ve heard Malarchi pull more punches than this, and that’s a shame really cos it was his time to shine! Thankfully for him, he’s not that shown up by Canibus, who doesn’t really come back to his best. But to be fair, that beat couldn’t inspire me to write a rhyme.

The B side has ‘Politics’ which has totally got the one over on ‘Da Shock’. The beats far nicer, in fact its blinding, nice bass like the A side, but the use of samples are much better. The most bizarre thing is that Malarchi has saved his best rhymes for this track. If you would like to prove a point to anyone who thinks the UK only has good producers, play them this cos Malarchi would put one up em’. The subject matter is nice as well, about how lazy UK rappers can be, and how HHC and the alike are not giving the support. It’s a nice change to hear a UK emcee addressing the real problems in the UK music scene rather than just moaning about it. Real amazing track, but these venomous rhymes were what I was expecting to here alongside Canibus, oh well. I still want to hear Malarchi’s album that’s coming soon, cos it does have potential for being rather nice…
