This single is a breakthrough for UK hiphop really, I mean who would think that UK producers would be working with such big US artists. Guess it shows how far we have gone in the last few years. But all that said is it crap, well no not at all. Believe it or not the production is the highlight of this single, probably due to the fact Mos and Talib seem to feel the need to act Jamaican at points in the track which is a bit weird. It’s a well solid track though with a nice laid back beats, and good rapping (the best coming from Talib to be honest). I suggest that any Blackstar fan pick this up, but don’t expect the best blackstar track you’ve ever heard. The B side is well nice, ‘No love’ feat. FT. This is I think better than the A side, but each to his own. Much stronger production from the Creators, with nice loops and much more tuneful and head nodding than the A side, and it also has a generally nicer rapping style to it. I would say buy it….. © ukhh.com 1999 - 2000 |
