Da Bruk Pocket Kru Da Bruk Pocket Kru Demo
(demo)
After the intrusion I made in the pages of Hip Hop Connection I have been getting sent a steady stream of demos and none so far have been better than the demo CD I was sent by the Da Bruk Pocket Kru. These London boys have six quality joints on this CD, unfortunately they never told me the names of the crew members so I can’t give them serious big ups. For all crews looking to network in London, you could do a lot worse than get in contact with them.
“The Hip Hop Mission” was the first tune on the CD, this is a nice intro to the crew with a lovely little acoustic guitar sample. “Morning Wood”, the next tune, shows how they ain’t scared to play around with their vocal style and even cavort with an almost Ol’dirty bit of singing. The DeeJay needs some props too for his cuts.
“Verbal Assassin” shows exactly how comfortable the Emcees are with there accents and there style. This tune is some good story telling too, you would think the guy has been doing tunes for year as at times they sound like veterans, the beats, the lyrics and the cuts. It’s only really the recording that lets them down, but hell you can excuse that. “Easy Living” is a nice little interlude instrumental that lets you relax before they continue. “Pressure Spark” this is some serious Prime & Kela type styles. For all those that know what I mean will know what I am getting at. If you don’t its like a comical come battle type style, which they do well. Jnr Disprol could fit on this tune seamlessly “ I’ll leave you more fucked than the English weather”. “Brixton Story”
finishes off this demo, it is another story telling cipher, which is rather reminisent of Slick Rick and Scary Eire. These guys are indeed quality and should be checked. I love it when I get to do this, but you heard it from me first, Da Bruk Pocket Kru and one you should be hearing from in the future, if not, well these no justice.
