 Ed209 Super Exstatic EP

They say copying is the highest form of flattery, and at first glance and first listen you'd barely notice the difference between the P Brothers back catalogue and this first effort by Leicester based producer Ed209, from the toddler on the vinyl label to the hard as heck drums, to the couple of appearances by mainstay Cappo. But, hey the P Brothers are rocking it right now so why not?

Actually reading the biog there's more to it than that anyway as it turns out that Ed209 is responsible for the visuals on the Heavy Bronx Experience project and website and even Cap's forthcoming LP for Zebra Traffic. In return the P Brothers co-mix this EP with Ed hisself, so it gets that full Heavy Bronx feel to it.

Where the P's use Notts MCs Mr45, Scorsayzee et al, Ed209 turns to his native Leicester to find his other guest MCs - Eyezofman and his 15 year old brother A-Bomb (sounds familiar, was he a guest on the ukhh forums long time ago?). So i've mentioned loud drums, but Ed209 has more to his production repertoire as there's some nice additional samples dropping through the 4 tracks plus beats and pieces on this EP, from other old skool hiphop sources to police sirens subtly through 'welcome to the city', to horn and bass samples.

Oh and I nearly forgot to mention that some copies of the vinyl come with a 24x24" poster with some nice little graphics by Ed209 & Mr Jago, another Leicester based artist with tracklisting and thanks list all done in a nice style, a nice touch for a self-produced and financed EP

I've already made enough reference but basically if you're feeling Cappo's current style then you're going to like this EP, and it serves as a nice introduction to a couple of new MCs and a new producer and shows there's more to hiphop in the East Midlands than Nottingham. Get it and hang on for volume 2...
