 Blaktrix Trust EP

This is Blaktrix’s second EP this year and it comes in quick succession from the last one. In fact, I felt dropping a new EP so soon after the last may prove a little premature. Despite the last EP ‘Strappado Styles’ being on measure dope, ‘Trust’ shows Blaktrix, only a few months on, developing rapidly into an heavily accomplished artist.

‘Trust’ is six tracks of dopeness from both the production and lyrical frontiers, with only one track ‘Friday Night Fight’, leaving little lasting impact on you. For the rest, Blaktrix has hooked up some of the tastiest beats to be crammed onto an EP this year. The production rights for the six tracks are shared equally between Rola and Optimus Prime and both hit hard. The more surprising of the two has to be Rola, who on ‘Right To Reply’ excels himself beyond my expectations with an absolute anthem! As for Blaktrix’s lyrical contribution, the husky flow has developed into a really distinctive sound and throughout the tracks, a massively wide range of subjects are touched on, all with great ability. Furthermore, the guest spots of Junior Disprol and Humurak D Gritty serve to compliment Trix rather than overshadow him.

Other than one track, I really can’t find much fault in this whatsoever. I pray this becomes available on vinyl, because for these tracks not to get dropped in a club would be doing them an injustice. Highly recommended.
