ED209º StayExstatic EP
After a two year break since ‘StillExstatic’, ED209˚ returns with VRD’s third and final in the ‘Exstatic’ series with a release that features the vocal talents of Konny Kon, Cappo and C-Mone. This was always going to be heavier than Rick Waller’s left butt cheek. If you like your Hip Hop with big phat dirty breaks then this release is a hole-in-one for sure.
Konny Kon’s ‘Dirty Thorn Rose’ drops his usual high grade in his unmistakably smooth style. This is all done over the top of some no frills bass and high-hats, simple but devastatingly effective especially with the subtle ‘Mass Appeal’ sample. This is swiftly followed by Cappo’s ‘Inside Your Mind’ which was my favourite track off his recent ‘Directors Commentary’ Mixtape. You always know what your getting with Cappo and this certainly doesn’t disappoint with intricate flows and master craftsmen-like lyrics. ED lays something dark and merky, finishing it off with a vocal sample from Candi Staton’s ‘You've Got the Love’… belting!
Then there’s still another Cappo track, a C-Mone track and an instrumental treat to remain. Whilst these tracks are also heavy in their own right, the damage is done and you’ll be reaching to replay the first two full-length tracks again and again. ED209˚ raises the temperature yet again and this time it’s going to take even longer to cool down.
