The demo I got from Baron ages ago always promised big things, and now this release by the same man will see a hopeful full release money permitting. So if you want to ensure you get to cop this EP then you best get one on tape at a fiver a pop from the man himself, baron_mandroids@hotmail.com. But that’s all the boring shit over with, whats the product like? Well Baron has moved on greatly from the demo, taking a similar line but honing those skills up. The breadth of styles on this EP is something good in it self. Showing funny tracks, serious tracks and how he’s multi-lingual. ‘Aka 47’ is a clever track with Baron acting out some alter-egos (Baron, Dr Know, Major ‘Guess Who’s Coming?’ has one of the best beats on the EP, bar ‘Learning Italian’. But the difference is I can understand the lyrics on this one, which are like all the EP of the highest standard. ‘Learning Italian’ sounds fucking poetic quite frankly, because Italian flows so damn nice. It would be my favourite track as like I said the production is beautiful. Problem is like your true Englishman, when learning Languages at school I was all ‘They should speak English!’ How I regret it now! Because I’d love to no what this track was banging on about, oh well there’s always evening classes. ‘Dirty Jezabels’ is a cover of Dirty Decibels by the High and Mighty over the same loop. A funny take on this track, which never fails to raise a smile on my plain mug. But lyrics ‘She ain’t the girl in the adverts but I’ve had worse’ make me relate to this track a bit too much! You’ve all heard the beat, but trust this is such a good remake, probably be a good club track and all. The last two tracks are ‘Twin Fables’ and ‘57th Century (Back To The Futile)’ which are both really solid tracks, but I don’t have any energy left in my fingertips. So lets just say like all the tracks you won’t be disappointed. I can’t really fault this EP much at all, maybe the Rhymes are slightly at a higher level than the beats, in fact they are. But the fact is Baron has created this all himself, and its worthy of your money without a doubt. Not a weak track on the whole EP is a real achievement, all I hope is that it will see a full Vinyl and CD release like it deserves.
