Simple and plain, this night was rocking. There were more surprises than the new range of kinder eggs for the year 2000, i'm telling you! Firstly, I had my doubts as this jam has been running for 2 years and its always been kind of empty, plus the Paradise bar isn't my favourite club.. mainly due to the nonsense you ALWAYS get on the door but also cos its a bit wee (and a bit wee-wee come to think of it) Anyway, alongside the regular DJ's, who not only got heads nodding, they even played NWA!! Unheard of in hip hop clubs nowadays, wouldn't you say? Yeah so alongside them was a guest spot by Jehst (of YNR and now Lowlife!) which promised to be banging! It was, because by this time (about 11.30) the club was pretty packed (mainly with odd people but who cares?) and certain folks had arrived namely Lewis Parker, Profound and Supa T; the first two stepping up to accompany Jehst on stage.. Particularly amusing as Mr Parker must have narrowly escaped being removed from the club due to a sample of his 'cigarette' getting him into shit with the big guys on the door only minutes before rocking the mic! Alas the wicked Tommy Evans who normally double teams with Jehst on 'Deadly Combination' could not be in attendance, but the set was still amazing!! However the highlight for me was definitely during the freestyle session hosted by Manage when an emcee named Kope (if you don't know him already, you soon will) stepped up and completely ripped it with his trousers round his ankles... then he proceeded to get up on the stage about 10 more times to demand the mic off the other emcees who were all pretty good.. i'm glad he did though cos he said some of the funniest lines i've heard in ages.. (dunno if he was more pissed than me by that point though...) After that the crowd quickly dispersed which was a shame cos they missed some amazing skills on the decks by Blood One and Asif who proved she's definitely not a token female DJ as she's actually really really good.
