This you may not have heard, this you should have! For all the Freestyle cats and DeeJay battle cats alike, this you need to check. This LP by David Jack cuts up superbly to rival any DeeJay release. Each track has cuts and scratches and leaves the Freestyler a space to spit and the Bedroom DeeJay has more than ample time to cut over it. The cuts, in places, seem to too quiet for the track, but then again I like the DeeJay to jump out of the speakers and attack your ear drum with no remorse. Each track is melodic and easy to get a vibe off, flutes, harps, violins and Kung Fu samples, what more could you ask for? Cuts? Yeh, ok they are in there too. Although its hard to find a stand out track, this is not a bad thing, its due to the fact that each tune is as good as the next and was as good as the last. I would like to have seen a guest Emcee on some of the tracks though to break up the LP in places, but then again I am never happy. To describe David Jacks music? Portishead meets Wu Tang Clan in a back alley to hand over a post card from Lewis Parker who is on holiday in France with DJ Phantom. Wish you were here to hear this! © ukhh.com 1999 - 2002 |
