The first thing that hits you about this is how much better the production has got since the first album. Much more going on in the beats with more tune and less darkness. However Its still a fairly dark album like the first one, being loosely based around race and oppression. The lyrics on this album are supplied by many artists, such as Yogi, Cipha Allah, Vennom and Justice. Unlike the first album you can easily find yourself listening to the album from start to finish and it definitely has much more to it. The tunes are much more varied rather than just a simple formula, and you will soon pick out some outstanding tracks once you have brought it. ¡¥Symphony Of Destruction¡¦ is a nice track with a fairly bouncy beat and classical strings in the background. ¡¥Black Cracker Suite¡¦ is a very oldskool type beat with lyrics that fit in like a skinny bitch into a wetsuit. Tracks such as ¡¥Life To Freedom, Death To The Debt¡¦ have a meaningful message about important issues. This one is about guess what? You got it the wish to remove the third world debt. This track also has a French rapper on it alongside the many UK MC¡¦s. ¡¥Jackin The Black¡¦ has a goodish female MC in it, who sadly sounds fairly yank but it¡¦s got really nice production so we shall forgive. ¡¥Justice/ Kill em all¡¦ is a great track. It has a women singing in it, but its kinda a singing rap style and it works well. It adds some depth to the track and allows you to really get your head nodding before the MC comes in. The lyrics are wicked, nice ragga style. It is definitely the moving production that does it tho, really stirs the emotions, or maybe summin was in me eye ƒº. Good to play when you¡¦ve got a Girl around who doesn¡¦t like hiphop, my Girlfriend hates hiphop but likes this track and agrees it would do well in the charts. ¡¥Everybody Must Dead¡¦ again has great production with a loop of someone crying, this really gets you involved into the track, plus great lyrics all add to another good track. All in all this Album has a much better impact than the first Black Samurai release. The sound has evolved and I know I¡¦m looking forward for the next outing, check it! © ukhh.com 1999 - 2000 |
