Cappo Spaz The World LP
‘OOoohh’ is probably the best description you’ll get on first hearing Cappo’s debut joint. It’s a rare moment in this country- a quality Hip-Hop album from start to finish.
Don’t get me wrong, Cappo plays his part with some sick shit throughout, but anyone who gets blessed by the P Brothers with an album full of such rich beats is gonna have a head start on the competition. A recent trip to NY showed that their shit has been noticed, with two of the bigger independent stores rocking their mix tapes to the vinyl buying masses.
Heavy Bronx? 8 out of 10 cats prefer it, n’aaah mean.
And it’s not just on the up-tempo audio violence of joints like ‘Speak’ (with an ill guest spot from Scor-zay-zee) that their production shines. ‘Watership Down’ finds Cappo drowning enemies over a mid-tempo banger, and even the wailing, soul infused slow-jam ‘Grand Final’ will guarantee sore necks across the country. Shit, you’ve even got Mr. 45 doing a decent UK accent on the large ‘Gloves Off’.
So, you’ve got 13 tracks of high quality Hip-Hop. I could go on, but that’s more time wasted before you go and cop this.
Well, what the fuck are you waiting for??
