Impressive and stylish debut album from Jehst who expands his style and lyrical approach beyond that shown within numerous guest appearances and two previously well received EPs. The album is packed with 13 quality cuts – with production being shared by Jehst, Lewis Parker, Apollo and LG and various vocal appearances. However, this is definitely a Jehst solo joint as he takes control and stamps his distinctive mannerisms across every track as shown by the simply looped spit-a-thon of ‘Run Hard’, the heartfelt lyrics of ‘ESP’, the sad but optimistic ‘Falling Down’, and the cooled out piano based jazz of ‘Brimstone Rock’. The albums production remains strong and simple to create a calm backdrop for Jehst’s savvy twisting rhymes and swaggering delivery to shine. Existing fans will gorge upon this record in a single sitting – hopefully some of that passion will encourage other fanbases to fully appreciate this extremely talented 24 year old. Overall – a superbly coherent LP that oozes homegrown british identity within every facet. A fantastic debut.
