Striking debut album from the London collective. Producer Dag Nabbit has hooked up a tight set of stylish beats with smooth jazzy soundscapes sitting back to back with faster darker and grittier breaks. Interesting, humorous, political and eclectic lyrics are provided by main vocalist Orifice Vulgatron and a range of guests speakers such as Taskforce, Kashmere, etc. An album that takes a couple of sittings to work through but with plenty of highlights including the eerily downtempo funk of ‘Stabilize’, agitated strings accompanying a slick Tommy Evans verse on ‘Wrong Move’, the two-step drum patterns of ‘Hold On’ perfectly setting off Skinnyman and DVS’ aggy delivery, and the sultry glossy arrangement of the chilled ‘Getaway’. Overall, an album of extremely listenable tracks showcasing a powerful fusion of global sounds with sharply observational lyrics.
