Micall Parknsun The Working Class Dad LP
Maybe I’ve been sleeping a little bit, but this LP came as a shock to me for two reasons. One, I’d not really heard this guy, even on twelve’s, so a full length LP seemed a touch premature and two, the LP is flippin’ dope!
It’s always exciting when someone pops up who you’ve got no knowledge of and their music blows you away. This is exactly what I think most people who pick up Micall Parknsun’s ‘The Working Class Dad’ will feel. Whether or not it’s one of the many LG produced tracks, or one of the few self produced ones, this LP has dope beats in abundance! The highlight for me though has to be ‘The Artform’ which has flute samples performed by Biscuit killing it all the way through. On an emceeing front, this LP is far from week either! Micall Parknsun has got a clear and precise delivery, allowing you to listen to his lyrics easily. Some of these lyrics may ruffle a few feathers with his approach of money making from hiphop, but few could doubt his honesty and motives. The guest emcees are impressive too, with Dubbledge smacking it and Jehst delivering one of the most solid performances that I’ve heard from him in ages.
I could bang on for ages about how good this album is, but really you should consider buying ‘The Working Class Dad’ in a heartbeat. The fact is it’s one of the late entries for album of 2005!
