 Concentration Camp Part 1 LP

If this was 1939 and you heard the name Concentration Camp and you were Jewish with dark hair and brown eyes, you'd dash for the blonde hair dye, toss out your Kaput and claim you were blind. These days you needn't worry your minor mind about being exposed to any such torture as this Concentration Camp come equipped with high levels of freshness that would invigorate the most deadly of gas chambers!

The 3 members of the Camp (Aslan, Kinetiks & Ambush) kick things off with an intro made completely of cuts and quotes from rappers such as Prodigy of Mobb Deep which sets up the first track, "This Rap Industry" very nicely. The piano driven beat is very eerie, the beat sounds like a beat boxer is up in the beast, maybe so but none of this can take anything away from the first MC who drops such gems such as, "When I'm under pressure, I feel my temper rise/when you see the devil in my eyes/I switch like Jekyll and Hyde" and "build with master architects black magicians that cast the hex/ the soundbwoy burial pay your last respects". The whole track is very dark and
filled with hardcore flows that are kind of reminiscent of early Boot Camp Clik which is a huge compliment as they were one of the best crews to do the damn thing.

The next track is again piano driven and called "The Art of War" where the emcees practice the verbal Sun Tzu, with the impressive Kinetiks spitting "Vampires we attack for the crime/leavin' entire empires spittin' Dracula's wine". What imagery! Made the redundant index keep pressing rewind, I was well impressed!! A lot of the cuts on this CD are very piano driven yet are really fresh with hard drums thumpin the listener over the head like your dad after a night at the public house. Track 7 is called "Final Conflict" and is seemingly a posse cut with a few outside emcees joining the Camp in a phat lil’ cipher. As entertaining as this is, some of the emcees just don't cut the marmite and their flows do not stand up to the high standards the original members have set. The Concentration Camp members are definitely the stars of the show!

Making my way through the CD I found that almost every song has scratching and MC quotes which for the most part is very good but as you make your way through you find yourself wishing for a little more variety as it does become a tad tedious. Aslan the producer has served up some beautiful backdrops which would make a suplex-perfecting wrestler well jealous. The MC's on show are very talented and their edginess distinguish themselves from the rest of the UK MC field but would have been nice if they name dropped themselves a little more so I could have been more accurate with who said what.

To sum this release up in 5 words it would be “Concentration Camp Go Stupid
Hard”! They take no prisoners with their attack on the English dictionary. A hot sixteen from Hitler dropping science with some of his war tactics would not have been out of place in this brutal battle glorifying release. This is a worthwhile endeavour and I seriously advise you to give it up to the Camp before they round YOU up in packs and rap your heads off. Big ups from the lounger!
