Hailing from Norfolk, Chronic Redeye drop their mixtape after a string of underground CD and 12” vinyl releases. Eighteen tracks deep ‘The All Or Nothing Days’ comes more like an underground album than a mixtape as it isn’t actually mixed and doesn’t’ include any freestyles, just tracks! It starts off promising well with ‘Music Lives On’ which sees producer Chronic come with a nice uplifting groove that utilises a nice female hook really well. Rapper Redeye holds it well on this and keeps everything tidy. Next up is ‘Always On My Mind’ which fuses influences from ska and ragga/roots for a good radio friendly track with a sung hook by vocalist Anna. The mixtape continues with more rhymes and beats from the Norfolk duo but to be honest isn’t until track eight until you get the next highlight which is cutting edge beat which is ‘Back Up’. Love the ragga deep vibe here which sees Redeye flow his heaviest song. On the whole the mixtape is a good listen and does in all fairness hit the spot with certain tracks but I would like to see a lot more consistency in their next release. The only couple of criticisms I would have is firstly the artwork is terrible and does nothing for the profile of this underrated duo, and secondly they could have got away with not including certain tracks making the CD shorter but more effective. It’s good but it’s by no means ground-breaking but still worth ya attention.
