Dubbledge The Richest Man In Babylon LP

Anyone with any interest in Hiphop should know that Dubbledge has, for some time, been one to pay close attention to. With his “Smile” EP introducing an emcee full of charisma and lyrical ability, through to his “Fist of Jah” Mixtaping, giving signs of consistent artists; the test was always going to be toughest when he finally embarked on an album however. It comes as no surprise, but great relief then, that Dubbledge’s debut, “The Richest Man In Babylon” is in fact one of the albums of the year.

There’s track after track of pure quality, ranging from the lighthearted swagger which he does so well, through to deeply intelligent and touching lyrics on major issues. Dubbledge is one of those complete emcees, who comfortably knits an album together because they have so many facets to their style. You only have to listen to the comical word play & flow play on “Da Work Out” and the seven deadly sins anthem “777” to know that Edge is one of the best in his craft. With some of the most consistently heavy, but varied production I’ve heard crammed onto one album in time, “The Richest Man In Babylon” offers much more than just lyrics. This is a complete project.

This album is guaranteed to make my top 5 albums of the year and it’s clear that if Edge carries on in this vein, he’ll become one of the best emcees this country has ever had. Don’t believe me? Just go check this ish!

that Edge is one of the best in his craft
