Fugazirum The Red Album LP
This is an interesting collaboration that you won’t see too often. Emcee Mosman and producer Huss may be known to you as Fugazirum as they’ve been around for a few years. What you may not know is that they’ve been joined by Blues singer and guitarist Ben ‘Fingers’ Smith. This unique fusion as you can probably imagine results in something that you won’t have heard before.
Yes, the album is unashamedly Bluesy but there’s still more than a healthy smattering of Hip Hop influence with emceeing throughout much of the album. It’s not emceeing in an annoying Glastonbury Jazz Stage type thing either, Mosman has some interesting lyrics to drop without being too highbrow. One of the best bits is the almost Country “Life” which shows exactly what can be done with such a musical fusion, superb head nodding beat, chilled out guitar and dope lyrics… superb! There’s even some funky instrumental stuff on “Lee Hook” which gets you bouncing.
This is definitely a breath of fresh air in an often stagnant and stifling climate of same-old, same-old. If you can open your ears and mind then you’ll definitely benefit from what this album has to offer. Also got to give special props to Fugazirum for actually having the male gonads to do something truly different.
