DJ Dave The Ruf The Ruffest DJ in the World LP The Ruf's mix CDs aren't like other DJs' mix CDs. There aren’t many DJs out there whose releases let MC Mello, BDP, Hong Kong Phooey, The Sex Pistols and Porn Theatre Ushers all rub shoulders. That’s without mentioning Sly and the Family Stone, the Jeep Beat Collective, Gunshot and Styles of Beyond. And then there’s … well, you get the picture. Starting with Jeep Beat’s wicked ‘Interception’ from 1995 (I know - I couldn’t believe it was from that long ago either!), the scene is set. This is a mix to get people up and going mad. I’m not going to go through all the tracks on here, but from the names I list above you know what to expect. Except you don’t! It’s full of surprises - like the blend of ‘Fuck Compton’ with the instrumental to the Beastie Boys’ ‘Intergalactic’ which works excellently. This is a CD that’s been getting some heavy rotation round my gaff - and to get a party bouncing there isn’t much that works better.
