Dobie's album has to be one of the most slept-on and underrated around. It's wicked. Featuring rappers Roots Manuva, Rodney P (from London Posse), Ninety 9 (a rap poetess style woman) and Soul Controlla plus soulful vocals from Helena Paul and Raissa, all over superb, varied and excellently produced beats from that man Dobie. I'm telling you now - you need this album. There have been a few 12"s released off the album. I missed out on the Dobie EP, released in 96, and got it the same time as Dobie's 'Basement Rock' release. Anyway, these are two quality releases. Nice beats supplied by Dobie, with top vocals. The EP has Rodney P delivering some excellent verses, and both releases have the 'Soul Controller' doing vocals too. Dunno who he is (although I know I recognise that name...), but he delivers the goods too. All of it's out now on Pussy Foot. Well worth your sheckles.
