 Big Smoke Issue 4

Hail - its the return of uk hiphops premier printed mag. Its slightly irregular in terms of whens its going to drop into the shops - but when it arrives it always hits home to show others the way to go when it comes to specialising in uk rap. The quality 12" format leaves loads of room for interviews, news, reviews and competitions - all brought with well written words, a tasty layout, and full colour glossy pictures.

This issue features a lovely interview with artist Mao Mao (the man behind that lovely Riddim Killa artwork), a nice article on hiphop in Ireland, epic informative and funny interviews with Lewis Parker, Jehst, DJ MK, Estelle, Funky DL, Hoodz Underground, and Big Dada's honcho Will Ashon. Its a heavy issue when you add to that six pages of live, mixtape, and vinyl reviews.

Overall, its always nice to check a mag and think the people writing it are on the same vibe as the heads reading it - not a lot of mags manage this fine balance but Big Smoke maintains its link to the roots and as such this makes it a wicked 'read it in one sitting' job. Lets not wait so long for the next one - keep on droppin that knowledge upon heads and asking them artists the questions people always wanted to ask themselves.
