A perfect Xmas gift from those Derby heads running the successful “Off The Hook” hiphop jam. This is a 60 minute mash-up of Xmas related hiphop, soul, samples, jazz and dirty funk. Any mixtape beginning with Soprano’s dialogue segwaying into the Jackson 5 is already a strong stocking-filler favourite for me n’ my cronies. At times the mixing isn’t as seamlessly tight as previous releases from this crew – but that’s more to with the diversity of tracks rather than poor engineering – with artists ranging from Lou Donaldson, Byron Lee, Kurtis Blow to Run DMC. This is good fun mix that will remain listenable whatever the season – trust me you don’t need to be watching that Morecambe and Wise yuletide special to be bopping your head and grinning away to this mixes special moments. Overall – you can bet Santa was rockin this CD in the sleigh while sortin those backbreaking deliveries on Xmas eve.
