Evil Ed & K-Delight Live From Caesars Palace (mixtape)
‘Live From Caesars Palace’ is the first offering from Playing Around Records as founded by K-Delight & Ed, and this 3 deck live mix does not disappoint. The two tablists take a range of Hip-Hop, Breaks, Funk Soul, and a few ‘Eclectic’ tunes and turn the stack of wax into 68mins of unrestrained mixology.
The mix is split into two main sections, the first brought to us by K-Delight, cutting and juggling a diverse selection of beats, breaks and hip-hop, using all 3tables, and both mixers. Some of the highlights include a dub mash-up of Grandmaster Flash’s ‘The Message’, a rare outing for Ty’s seminal ‘Groovement’, a weird cut up involving a well known hymn, and the smash of 2004, ‘Nico Suave’ in its instrumental form.
The much acclaimed Evil Ed takes the reins for the second half of the live mix, going on a trip consisting of some absolute all time classic breaks, some UK classics, and a few of the more recent US tunes. Skinnyman, Kyza, London Posse, and Quasimoto all feature in Ed’s mash up, as does a moment of genius featuring Joan Collins A definite feel good mix, and, hopefully the first in an original series of live DJ mixes. Highly recommended.
