 Sparo Sparo Worlds (mixtape)

In continuation to the recent build up to his forthcoming LP, Sparo drops a mix CD full of exclusives, remix and favourites old and new, all linked together by samples of dialogue and effects from depths only accessible to a true Sci Fi B movie nerd.
Over an hour ‘Sparo Worlds’ introduces the work of this budding UK producer in fine style and manages a few surprises along the way. The biggest surprise of the lot is the preview of the forthcoming collaboration with Foreign Beggars, ‘Astroscience’, a jazz influenced banger over which the Beggars drop lyrics in their own inimitable fashion, further showing that they can rock any beat, any time, any where and still smack it. Elsewhere you’ll find Sparo’s rework of the Nextmen’s ‘Firewalking’, classics such as Ultramagnetic’s ‘Give the Drummer Some’, ‘Bongo Rock’, Edan’s ‘MCs Smoke Crack’, Kane’s ‘Mortal Combat’ alongside Sparo’s remix of De La’s ‘All Good’, Jimi Hendrix’s ‘Shornet’s Cage’, the ‘Bullit’ remix and tons more tracks that span a whole heap of genres from dusty funk to leftfield hip hop.
As far as the overall feel of the mix goes, it’s a bit hit and miss at times, with some weird transitions and the flow sometimes hitting a bit of a wall. However it’s far from poor either and after a few listens it’s a great little ride into the mind and influences of Sparo, and the Sci Fi theme that runs throughout does hold the whole thing together nicely.
A nice introduction to the work of the man if you’ve so far failed to see and hear his work and a good little mix that should please the fans and nerds too.
