London’s favourite and most groundbreaking club continues to deliver consistently dope mix CDs, with the FABRICLIVE series dropping its first offering of 2006 courtesy of the Herbaliser. The boys, signed to Ninja Tune, have had a prolific and successful career to date, even if they might not be the most publicised act. After 4 albums, many singles and some compilations, they still manage to deliver head nodding hip hop and a fairly unique British take on a now worldwide sound. For this new mix CD, delivered I assume following their regular residency at the Farringdon haunt over the last few years, they serve up an excellent playlist of dancefloor anthems and crowd pleasers, old, new and unknown. From the ragga stylings of Million Dan to the instrumental styles of RJD2, through old school anthics from Demon Boyz, UK flavours of the Nextmen and funked up rhythms of Jrocc this is a non stop hip hop journey done in fine style. Cuts, mashes and accapellas are all thrown in for good measure, and you end up, like always with Fabric with a big smile on your face. Ideal for warming up before a night out, or keeping ya head nodding on the way to work!
