 Dubbledge Fist of Jah (mixtape)

This one’s been out for a while, but it looks like it’s getting a ‘proper’ release through Dented Records, Dubbledge’s new home.
Taking a mixtape format, Dubbledge further proves that he is one of the UK’s finest new talents by dropping freestyles and writtens over a tasty selection of beats from the likes of Dag Nabbit, Schlomo, Steve Ebola, Snips and Jabba Tha Kut. And he’s not one for grabbing the limelight either, roping in vocal support from label mates and friends alike including Micall Parknshun, Dr Syntax, Skrein, Vulgatron, Inja and Genesis Elijah. All of which makes this tape a bit of a who’s who of the current UK scene without sounding like a poorly put together effort.
Tracks like the supercharged ‘3 Way Beatdown’ with Vulgatron and Inja, the heavy ‘Perfect Beatbox’ with Schlomo and ‘Venus’ with Skrein and Syntax are all worthy of an album spot and show how healthy the scene currently is. Dubbledge can still hold his own more than well though, as is shown on ‘The Internet Song’ or ‘Don’t Interrupt’. Special mention goes to ‘Xoalin Monk’ a mental piece of production from Steve Ebola with a sample and chorus to split your sides.
If like me you missed the boat first time round, then you best get on your good foot and cop this mixtape ahead of Dubbledge’s album – you wouldn’t want to be left out now would you?
