 Various Artists R.E.D Presents 'L4yer Cak3 Vol. 2' (mixtape)

I bought this on a Victoria line tube on my out and was surprised it lasted the night to get to a review considering how lean I got! First off I was immediately struck by the professional look of the case and cover however the fact that inside the beautiful shell is a CDR with a stick stuck on the front was a bit of a downer. However its about the music not the look so with that…
At forty tracks deep over two CD’s you certainly get value for your fiver! Along with a tonne of artists I hadn’t heard of there were plenty that I had including Sincere, MD7, Big Cakes, Bronze & Black, Pariz 1, C.O.V and Doc Brown. Although at points the ‘standard street flex’ of a lot of the tunes grates there’s more than enough over the twin discs to hold your attention and make you glad of the purchase. In the end if you like a certain style of rap you’ll love this and equally if you like a mix of various styles you won’t mind this. I’ll defiantly check out the next mix CD before I make any firm judgements on this series.
