 Illa Man Things (mixtape)

Following up his impressive “Holly Moley” LP, Illa Man comes through with a mixtape. Now this is definitely not a mixtape and any budding Grand Wizard will be spiting feathers over the term, but unfortunately in today’s world ‘mixtape’ appears to mean “collection of tunes which we are too scared to label an album”.

All that aside, “Things” is a whole bunch of goodness which if anything, has more tracks that leave a lasting impact on you than his recently released long player. From concept tracks about being an alcoholic who can’t get enough of the pub, through to pure raga wind-downs, Illa Man spreads his various rhyming abilities over 27 tracks. With impressive guest slots from the likes of Farma G, Dubbledge, Orifice Vulgatron and Skerin, Illa shows that he keeps himself in good company too. It’s also a step up in production quality from his last release, with some really top shelf backdrops over the vast majority of this ‘mixtape’.

With this amount of productivity coming from Illa’s camp, if he keeps up the QA as he has so far, he’ll end up with a mightily healthy back catalogue. Available on CD and download (check the links below buddy pal).
