 Scorzayzee The Starter (mixtape)

Scorzilla's return has been long awaited and since his departure there has been a Nottingham-sized hole in the ukhh scene. With Peace To The Puzzle coming very mysteriously 'soon' Scorz has released The Starter. The mixtape is a warm up for all the fans that are blue in the face from holding their breath, myself included. Its available free from getnottz.co.uk. Although a few songs have been released online since his return, this is the first proper mixtape released by himself with totally new material.

In a daze of musical malnourishment I downloaded this taster, cranked it up, sat back and absorbed it as if it were a resuscitating breath of life.

The Mixtape consists of ten songs, rarely exceeding the 3 minute mark. Scorz nicks some beats and spits over them as if he'd never left. There are some refreshingly unpredictable beats, including Grandmaster Flash's The Message and Underground from Eminem's Relapse.

Back to his lyrical magic, Scorzayzee covers some personal and philosophical subject matter with tracks like Stay With Me and also keeps it light and tongue-in-cheek with tracks like his parody of Soulja Boy's Kiss Me Thru The Phone, named Diss Me On The Phone.

Overall, its the perfect teaser for awaiting fans and does well anticipation for Peace To The Puzzle and features some awesome tracks like the stand-out track They Don't Really Care About Us. A remix featuring Millz and Nottingham's own Shifty Spirit ends the mixtape in a dirty midlands style.

With his involvement in Shane Meadows' Le Donk & Scorzayzee and the strength of the tracks on The Starter, the upcoming record, Peace To The Puzzle could be earth-shattering.

Scorzayzee is back.
