Bad Fathers Swallow For Iowa 12"

Nicely packaged and neatly presented independent twelve from the crew formerly known as The Committee.

Side A kicks off with heavy strings before bursting into some loud percussion courtesy of the various band members in this seven man unit. Maybe it’s because of the incessant drums but the doubled-up political flows seem to fit ill at ease with the track. That said the instrumental stands alone as being effortlessly listen-able and the vocals seem to benefit from the space afforded by the acapella. They just don’t gel when you blend the ingredients.

Flip over for a slower jam giving insights on how to deal with pesky IBFs (In Between Fucks for the uninitiated). I wasn’t feeling this as much but you might get a chuckle out of a few bars. Both the packaging and content have a whiff of frat-party college dorm chicanery, which is fine for that age bracket but a little beyond this old fossil. From the energy given out on the first side, my bet is that these guys can put on a decent live show. Keep an eye on the wax as a work in progress.
