DJ Shadow comes with a alright record - nothing how I expected. A slightly boring guitar based track .... if you heard the instrumental on the radio n' never knew it was by DJ Shadow you would just think its a syrupy spoonfed rock record with a reptitive inclination. The break isnt too great... to me it seems a little lazy. The b-side mix with the vocals cut through it is ok with some good scratches of snippets from the film. The track is the basic theme music to "Dark Days" - a documentary focussed upon about a bunch of homeless people living in a discontinued railway tunnel in Manhattan. A really harsh film about citizens living in selfmade huts (some for upto 25 yrs) in the world richest nation. But sorry - that dont make an excuse for releasing a shit record (which probably works well as a cinematic score but not on its own) and to do iton the hallowed 7" wax which he adores so much (check Brainfreeze innit).... well its disappointing really. But a highly worthy project no doubt - go read the website about the film. Craziness.
