This song is a monster. An absolutely stonking electro-grimy hip-hop version of Blade Runner. It completely destroys all competition and is so French. It oozes sophistication and hardcore passion. The multi-syllabic wordplay and ingenious double timings over the deceptively slow track absolute tear up the dance floor. Is it a response to 50 Cent, is it a French ode to le discotheque? Whatever it is, it is a monster of a tune, with Gallic wit and hardcore experimental beats, yet such an accessible sound. I love this song. Serving as a taster for their forthcoming sophomore offering on Big Dada later this year you can hear all their influences. They are clearly influenced by French electronica and UK grime as well as some of the more out there US rappers like Radioinactive and Bus Driver. Teki has a unique flow in that it is both multi-syllabic and breathless, never missing a beat, squeezing more and more syllables into each line but infusing it all with such melody and passion. Tito also has a distinctively French flow and they have to be one of the best French acts out there. Unafraid to experiment and completely in tune with their own humility. Yes, “Dans le Club” is a monster of a song. © ukhh.com 1999 - 2003 |
