There’s something about Premier’s production… he rarely gets it wrong and even when he does it remains pretty banging. And this new single is no different as Premo laces some head nodding goodness for Big Shug to lay some rhymes. Long time Gangstarr affiliate, Big Shug has always been there in the back of Gangstarr songs and live shows and so it’s nice to see him take the forefront for once. Taken from his forthcoming LP, ‘Who’s Hard’, ‘This is the Way’ is a strong track with Shug’s rugged voice and lazy flow combining perfectly with Premier’s boom bap and as always on point cuts. This is one to watch out for and which should definitely please all Gangstarr and Premier aficionados.
