Boozoo Bajou Dust My Broom LP

Boozoo Bajou are 2 Nuremberg based producers who’ve just dropped their second album after a 4 year hiatus. Unless you follow the electronic scene closely you may very well never have heard of them. I hadn’t. However after listening to ‘Dust My Broom’ you’ll be glad to have made their acquaintance. ‘Dust My Broom’ is an intriguing offering with heavy dub influences smothered over a range of electronic, jazz, soul and blues inspired tracks. The overall vibe is very chilled, making this a great album for the summer and autumn months, perfect background music for your day. There is a variety of instrumental and vocal tracks, with appearances from the likes of MC Top Cat, legendary Jamaican MC U-Brown, Joe Dukie and blues singer Ben Weaver.
This wide range of vocalists gives the album its diverse taste, as each applies their own style to the tracks at hand. This mix of styles, influences and vocals may sound like a bit too much, yet it works perfectly thanks to Boozoo’s use of the dub ethic and techniques. Highlights include ‘Killer’, ‘Way Down’, ‘Keep Going’ and ‘S.I.P’.
They say the best things come to those who wait and in the case of ‘Dust My Broom’ this is certainly true. The way in which Boozoo Bajou manage to hop styles while keeping their feet firmly grounded in dub styles is refreshing and most definitely pleasing to the ears. So get out and get rid of your musical cobwebs with Boozoo Bajou.
