Immortal Technique ft Chuck D and KRS ONE Bin Laden Remix 12"
It isn’t just Icke and David Jones who speak of conspiracies and wrong doing when it comes to the main event that has led to us to the current war on terror. 9/11, for all its gore, human depression and media representation as the act of a few religiously blind fanatics, is still a much-contested event in the short history of the world’s current super power. Immortal Technique delivers the ‘Bin Laden’ remix in that same contesting vein over a slow and hypnotic beat courtesy of Green Lantern. Backed by two of hip hop’s longest running politically minded preachers, he delivers his own take on what happened to the projects on that ill fated September morning - his gruff voice and delivery fitting perfectly the subject matter at hand.
It’s sadly a rare occasion to hear politically and socially minded raps these days, even though the war on terror and Bush presidency have wrought more havoc and problems then most governments in modern history hip hop has stayed quiet for the most part, leaving it to the underground and less mainstream friendly acts to pick up the torch that was lit by the likes of Chuck and KRS.
The single features instrumentals, as well as the original version of the track, which sees Mos Def join in the preaching. Also on there is ‘The War-Vs-US all’ a spoken word track from Mumia Abu Jamal that furthers drives home the reality of this war on terror and lends weight and support to the music of Immortal Techniques and others. It’s time people woke up and took notice before it’s too late.
