Gym Class Heroes The Queen And I 12"
To be followed closely by the album “As Cruel As School Children” is the limited 7” and download only track “The Queen And I” taken from the aforementioned album. Having had a promo copy of the album in my mitts for a long time now, I can honestly say this is a really poor choice of a lead single.
This track is probably at the extreme end of the Gym Class Heroes’ already rather crossover sound. Now I don’t have a problem with rock-hop type tracks, but this to me takes it too far and back again. The lyrics are boring and basic, on some Robbie Williams “Rock DJ” type rapping shit and the overly joyous backdrop is slightly nauseating. As I’ve already said, this is a poor choice for a single and generally unrepresentative of their forthcoming album. Do not judge that book by this cover… please!
