 Blufoot Vs J-Star 7"

Hot off the heels of his excellent ‘The Ablution’ album, Blufoot drafts in dub heavyweight J-Star for a couple of tasty dubbed out remixes heading straight for the dancefloor. On the microphone we’ve got Mic Assassin with ‘My Byro’ and Infinite Livez with ‘Inchaaa!’.
Dub is the word here, as J-Star goes to work on these two tracks. ‘My Byro’ keeps the vitality and energy of an upbeat track but substitutes its core ingredients for dub styles, in a way that works surprisingly well. Mic Assassin rides the riddim in fine style, making this a sure fire winner.
‘Inchaaa!’ on the flip holds more resemblance to classic dub, but still packs a more upbeat punch. This time it’s the bass that takes precedence instead of the drums, with Infinite Livez’ chatter riding the monster bass. More laidback than the other side, this is still some top quality riddim.
A very tasty 7” this is and one that showcases another aspect of the UK scene and the roots of the music. It’s also one of the most interesting remix offers of the year.
