This is a bloody good record. It starts out with Secondson's mix of Fight Club, proof if any was needed that Fleapit releases are going to be top notch. It kicks in with a clip from a film before a wicked piano and guitar loop comes in over a thumping drumbeat. The beat changes regularly - the beats go dark, dead funky (hammond organ styles in effect) and plain odd (with a classical piano snippet swooping around the place), then coming back to the original thumping head nodder to wicked effect. Junior Disprol's vocals are top too - lines like 'figure out another fresh angle to make you scream loud so I can use it as a sample', delivered with just enough aggressivity, riding over the beats just right. The Evil Ed original version comes darker - plucked strings over a dry drumbeat and a sparse bass, and a nice horror-sounding screamer of a sample coming in for a few bars here and there. The vocals still ride over the beats nicely - 'you got beef? I'll give you some gravy' - Evil Ed's darkness fits them as well as the thumpingness of Secondson's. He changes his beats regularly too, keeping coming back to the original which gets the head straight nodding. All that, then some nice cuts from Eddie Scratch as well... The 3rd track is Junq Waffle, again produced by Evil Ed. This beat is totally different - it bounces like something Blak Twang might rhyme over. Alkaline, Jhest and Skeleton join Junior Disprol on this one, and all of them come well and proper! Skeleton impresses me alot - I like his chatting style. Alkaline and Jhest are more known quantities - we knew they were wicked. Together they're nice too - there's a verse where they trade lines and it works really well - reminiscent of the Bros Macbane in some ways. This track does some proper damage indeed.
