Various Production ft V.E.X Bruk b/w Homedit 7"
After scoring a winner with their debut album on XL recordings, which showcased a range of hypnotic and irresistible productions, the mysterious Various Productions return with a hip hop minded 7”.
V.E.X features on ‘Bruk’, a loud, stomping and clunky head-nodder of a track that blends Various’ singular production style with V.E.X’s braggadocio and distinct twang. It’s brash and proud of it, sure to fire up any listener. ‘Homedit’ on the flip is a hypnotic instrumental number combining a haunting female vocal, already heard on the excellent ‘Hater’, with in-your face rhythms carried by big drums and swooping bass. Personally I find ‘Homedit’ the real winner here, especially rewarding on repeated listens, though both tracks are sure to please a varied crowd.
We may not know who they are but there’s no doubt Various Productions are a seriously talented bunch, with a knack for doing what they want and doing it well. A must have.
