‘The Falling’ features the vocal talents of Sparo, maybe Devonshire’s finest, and perhaps only, MC. Having gained modest prominence through a series of imaginative mixtape releases Sparo is joined by a trio of funky sounding producers. Joey2Tits, My Left Retina and Mexican Institute of Sound may sound daft, but mans’ got beats!
Joey2Tits drags the ethereal original into distorted dance floor-friendly terrain, tweets and bleeps aplenty without compromising the organic feel of Sparo’s version. The My Left Retina remix takes it down town, traveling through mean streets, an ominous sound jams the frequency of Travis Bickle’s AM dial. While Sparo’s vocals become the eerie echoes of petty street crime. In contrast the Mexican Institute of Sounds reinterpretation leaves you drifting off upon a hydroponic cloud – Hammond organ, maracas and gentle baby cooing easing the journey.
