Skinnyman feat. Roundhead Creatures of the Night 12"

“Creatures of the Night” is the second release from the PM Musik production camp. It features a collaboration between the legendary Skinnyman of the Mud Family and Round Head of the Monster Shock Crew from Jamaica. It’s a song made from the vice riddim track and is a cross-breed of hip-hop and ragga, a bit bashy and very sparse. Round Head’s vocal stylings work well on the beat. It’s a nice ragga lover’s rock vibe, adding an eerie vibe to the sparse track. The problem is that his chorus vocal is out of tune with the bass and I find this jarring. Skinnyman is Skinnyman and is always consistent. His verse is a bit better, if not throwaway, seeing as he seems to be guesting on everyone’s track at the moment. There’s only so much lines someone can write! Round Head’s verse is a bit better and has a tighter more in-tune flow, however when he flips it into the chorus it does not work. There’s not much musically going on in this track but this relies on the sparseness of dancehall. It’s an average track by Skinnyman’s standards (especially if “Fuck the Hook” is anything to go by.”)
