Tufkut is a very underrated producer. He tends to stick to the same excellent rappers to lace his productions. People like DPF and Kashmere tend to pop up again and again on his work. But when it sounds as good as it does, can you blame him? DPF is a rapper whose voice and breathless rhyme structure really grow on a listener, whilst Kashmere carries all the charisma and street edginess of a closet Trekkie ready to knock your nose in. On “Space” the airy beats give the rappers a lot of space to breath and the production is nice and relaxing, almost purposely minimalist. “French Guitar Lessons” is funkier still and Kashmere goes great over the beat, ripping it apart with his spot-on delivery. Tufkut really deserves more recognition for his sterling work over the years. Consistent, with a good ear for music and a secret obsession with pornography, this man should be up there with Skitz and others as one of the more respected producers in the country. It may elude him at the moment, but with an album ready to drop later this year, I only hope he gets the respect he deserves.
