 Skrein Mind Out 12"

That Foreign Beggars album was excellent, featuring some of the best of the UK talent sparring with Orifice Vulgatron over Dag Nabbit’s beats. This is one of those tracks. Well, minus Orifice. “Mind Out” is Underground Alliance’s highlight star Skrein (rhyming with brine) lacing a Nabbit beat, a nice piano chord progression with a little twinkle in its eye. Skrein gets all wistful and laid back over the beat, which is so perfectly summery and lazy. Club banger, “Once Upon A Skrein” is more uptempo, a radio hit if ever you heard one. Produced by Kate Fitzgerald, it also features one of the Beat Brickies on scratches. The socially conscious “The Youth, The Whole Youth and Nothing But the Youth” is more atmospheric and jazzy, featuring female melodies and chanting in the background as Skrein gets all political giving a more convincing state of the nation’s youth than most in his generation. A real pleasure to listen to. Skrein is a talented guy and this 12” is worth picking up to witness his mic skills as well as check out some of the hottest production this autumn. Big up. UNDALI!!!!
