 Skrein Mind Out 12"

Tight three-track platter from North London based vocalist Skrein. Title track ‘Mind Out’ skulks along with a mournful piano loop underlying tales of herb related adventure – a peaceful cut with a nicely understated emphasis on easily delivered verse which slides into the chilled chorus hook. The punchier production within ‘Once Upon A Skrein’ gives more immediate impact with an enjoyable blend of rowdy verbals and an aggy layered beat. On the flipside ‘The Youth...’ reduces the tempo with a socially conscious slice of mature storytelling across a mellow beat – the strength of this cut comes through the cohesive connection between the tight headnod production and thoughtful vocals. A real grower. Overall, an enjoyable twelve showcasing tight verbals and good quality production throughout.
