Bias Sit Back See the World 12"
The usual Canteen Records quality control in full effect here. From design (another of their takes on an old sleeve design it looks like) to the production through to the music itself, the top quality that we've come to expect from them doesn't let up for a second.
The title track 'Sit Back See the World' gets us straight into a head nodding acoustic guitar break - acoustic but not too folk sounding all the same! Nicely used male vocals come in, sounding as natural and in place as if they'd always sat on this laid-back Bias beat. A great track to chill to.
The second track is the Giacomo remix. It's got a more staccato, less laid-back feel to it, with more sparing use of the vocals. I like it less than the original I have to say - there's more of a feeling of it being an instrumental, like there's something missing, rather than a track in it's own right.
Bias drops another gem on the flip side with 'Raining Jewels', a soulful track with the wonderful voice of Christina Charley over a delicate rolling bass line and light drums, with a smattering of vibes adding to the harmonious backdrop to this track that's guaranteed to make the dark winter evenings feel summery. With the instrumental included to polish things off, you really can't go wrong with this one.
