Coldcut feat. Roots Manuva True Skool 12"

Coldcut’s latest album, ‘Sound Mirrors’, left me in two minds but this last single from the godfather’s first offering in 8 years manages to actually deliver some quite tasty remixes, from one of the album’s most interesting tracks.
Roots Manuva’s original verse was quality so when Sway pops in for a remix you know you’re more than likely going to be onto a winner – and the man doesn’t disappoint by proving he’s got what it takes to flip the track entirely from its original vibe into a grimey, electronic bumper, and deliver a momentous verse alongside Roots Manuva’s more chanting verbal rhythms. The other highlight on the remix front comes from fellow Ninjas Spank Rock who keep more of the original’s elements into their remix while stripping it down, adding some loud bass hits and another good verse this time from MC Spank Rock.
Add to this single the original, with its chants, Indian percussion and uptempo rhythm, a high tempo drum & bass remix from the Qemists, a bugged out house remix from Switch and you’ve got a truly interesting single. Definitely recommended if like me the album left you in two minds – if only for the quality of the Sway and Spank Rock remixes.

A truly interesting single
