Breaking The Illusion ft Braintax Joe 12"
Now THIS is how you do a diss record!
To give a little history, Breaking the Illusion was once half of Braintax, but went off to university and happily let Braintax take Low Life down to London on to bigger and better things. However, it seems an awful lot like their relationship has gone extremely sour, culminating in a perceived slight in Hip Hop Connection to do with Low Life chucking out a load of Breaking The Illussion’s records.
Anyway, this track is pretty damn hot. It will be interesting to see if Braintax actually responds, as he could quite easily shrug it off given the level of his success compared to Breaking The Illussion.
There are 3 mixes here, all with the same lyrics. The best is the History mix, which is reminiscent of 99 Problems with its crashing drums and distorted guitars. It features a nice little vocal snippet from “Sunshine of Your Love” which fits the track perfectly.
Its quite possible that this may disappear without a trace, as a lot of people on radio may shy away from upsetting Braintax and Low Life and not play it, but I would say that if you see this, pick it up.
