Million Dan Mic Check/Spectrum Ride 12"

Have Al Qaeda claimed responsibility? The IRA, or perhaps it was the Basque based ETA? Nope, on all three counts. It was Million Dan, and he has let of a right banger!

‘Mic Check’ follows on from where ‘Dogz N Sledgez’ left off; a high energy, ragga-tinged, floor filler with a simple yet effective hook, “Mic check one two, Million – Riiiip it up!” As has been the recent trend, the intro to ‘Mic Check’ borrows a very familiar early 90’s rap sample - House of Pains, DJ Muggs produced, ‘Jump Around’ – the ubiquitous, slightly cheesy, party tune that put Irish Hip hop on the map. Kind of.

The B – side, ‘Spectrum Ride’ is less incendiary with spacey samples and heavier on the ragga lean. The former Demon Boy continues his phoenix-like comeback and seems to be part of an endangered species of UK rap acts, i.e those that can make genuine dance floor friendly tracks!
